About National Tattoo Museum of New Zealand

The National Tattoo Museum of New Zealand is a small, privately owned non-profit dedicated to the history of tattooing in New Zealand, especially Maori traditional tattoo art known as “Ta Moko”.

You can find their collection from New Zealand and the surrounding areas of Pacific/Melanesian and Micronesian, featuring a mix of historical tattoo artifacts, tools, illustrations and information on techniques and styles.

Operating from New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington, are open from 12 pm every day except Sunday.

The National Tattoo Museum of New Zealand is open 6 days a week. The museum is open late on Friday and Saturday nights, 8 pm.

The National Tattoo Museum of New Zealand is the main exhibition hall of its kind in the South Pacific area. Both indigenous and cutting-edge tattoos are introduced from New Zealand and over the world.
