Ashburton Vintage Car Museum

Ashburton Vintage Car Club built its basis on the passion of its participants. From humble beginnings as a sub branch of its huge sister, Christchurch, membership on the Ashburton branch has regularly grown for the reason that 1970s and independence to its own branch in 1979. It now has 250 contributors. The Ashburton Vintage Car Club has a clubrooms, museum and parts shed on web site at their Maronan Road belongings, in Tinwald. Membership of The Ashburton Vintage Car Club is open to everybody who owns, or is interested in, vintage or veteran automobiles. Members maintain normal vehicle rallies, or runs, wherein they tour to one-of-a-kind places and keep a month-to-month club night time. The parts shed is open each Saturday from 10am to midday.

The jewel in the crown for the Ashburton Vintage Car Club is its museum. It became opened in October, 1979 after an enthusiastic committee raised the vital price range from the sale of pea straw, fertiliser and the raffle of two restored automobiles: a 1928 Dodge 6 Sedan and a 1929 Dodge DA. The cash raised turned into sufficient to construct and then freehold the property. Some of the participants from that point are nevertheless contributors today; nearly forty years later.
