About Ouwehands Dierenpark

Ouwehands Zoo is a zoo in Rhenen within the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is constructed on the Laarschenberg at the east facet of the metropolis. The founding father of the park, Cor Ouwehand, had come from Rotterdam to Rhenen to begin a cigar manufacturing facility there. He decided, however, to prevent doing this and in 1919 began a farm of wonderful fowl breeds at the Grebbeberg. During that duration many farmers visited this farm, however a lot of them did not come for the wonderful fowl breeds,

however for the other animals that also lived there which include: raccoons, peacocks and pheasants. Chicken farming did no longer cross nicely in the Nineteen Thirties. The special animals inside the park still attracted traffic. Ouwehand therefore determined to convert the fowl farm into a zoo. He visited one of a kind gardens in Europe to see how he could high-quality prepare his business. Ouwehands zoo changed into opened to the public on June 18, 1932. The park changed into a success and attracted many site visitors.
