About Museum de Oude Wolden

Museum de Oude Wolden abbreviated as MOW, is a regional museum inside the village of Bellingwolde within the Netherlands. The museum specializes in artwork and history of the regions of Oldambt and Westerwolde within the east of the province of Groningen. The museum opened on 10 August 1973. In the first decades, it often exhibited historical objects documenting everyday lifestyles. In the past due 1990s, the museum commenced to showcase artistic endeavors of artist collective De Ploeg and magic realist painter Lodewijk Bruckman.

Since 2012, it has a permanent display of artwork by using Bruckman and temporary exhibitions. Museum de Oude Wolden is positioned at the Hoofdweg within the village Bellingwolde within the municipality Bellingwedde within the east of the province Groningen near the Dutch German border. It is situated within the south of the place Oldambt and in the north of the area Westerwolde. Streekmuseum de Oude Wolden turned into opened on 10 August 1973 by the mayor of Bellingwedde Jurjen Jan Hoeksema. In the late 1960s, the province of Groningen requested the countrywide government for subsidy to open a brand new museum in Bellingwolde.
