Cuapiaxtla

Cuapiaxtla is one of the 60 districts that make up the province of Tlaxcala. It has a population of roughly 13,671 individuals. The word Cuapiaxtla, in the Nahuatl language signifies "Spot of Mountains" and originates from the Cuahuitl word that signifies "Tree", just as from the euphonic and the last "Tla" that means "Wealth". Among the nascent settlements toward the east of the present region of Tlaxcala, features the town of San Francisco Cuexcontzi, present region of Cuapiaxtla, which achieved a high social improvement, as an individual from the 230 settlements that have been found, having a place with the Texoloc stage.

San Francisco Cuexcontzi, was one of the 21 settlements that by their measurements and structural qualities were considered as towns, of provincial power, subjected amid the main portion of the Texoloc stage, to the city of Tlalencaleca. This last one situated in the skirts of the Iztaccihuatl, in grounds of the current situation with Puebla. For the second half of the Texoloc stage, another city emerges, that of Los Teteles de Atotonilco, situated ashore in the present district of Altzayanca, which shares the political control of the settlements with the previous. Along these lines, San Francisco Cuexcontzi, is inside the territory of impact of the Teteles de Atotonilco.
