About Passeggiata Anita Garibaldi a Nervi

The Anita Garibaldi promenade is famous among visitors as well as among locals; it is an important tourist spot in Genoa in the district of Nervi.

It starts from the small port of Nervi, from the mouth of the homonymous torrent, until reaching the ancient port of Capolungo with a total length of about 2 km.

The Gropallo tower, formerly also known as the Torre Del Fieno because of the wet hay that was burned on the upper part of the tower to produce smoke and warn of dangers, takes its name from the Marquis Gaetano Gropallo, creator of the walk that bought it in half of the nineteenth century.

The construction of the tower dates back to the mid- sixteenth century , and was part of the defensive system built due to the intensification of attacks by the Dragut pirates , but over the years it has been modified and restored several times.
