About Massa Cathedral

The congregation began as a pieve committed to Saint Peter, broadened in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. It turned into a university church in 1629.In the past a conventual church, it was pronounced the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Massa Carrara at its creation in 1822 and is presently the seat of the cleric of Massa Carrara-Pontremoli. The famous Massa Cathedral is well known for its historical presence, it is a Roman Catholic Church in Massa, Tuscany, focal Italy. It is devoted to Saints Peter and Francis.

In 1807, this development was obliterated by request of duchess Elisa Baciocchi when the commitment to Saint Peter was exchanged to the congregation of Saint Francis in Massa, which had been remade in 1660-1670.
