About Giacomo Manzu Museum

Committed to speaking to the human figure, Giacomo Manzù's accentuation on plan and disentangled shape set his work apart from his more customary counterparts.

He tried to make forms that were not just authentic, but rather likewise went about as images of general importance for all watchers. Manzù was the child of a shoemaker and at age thirteen, apprenticed as a skilled worker.

He figured out how to cut and functioned with wood, stone, and mortar.

Unexposed to contemporary craftsmanship, Manzù was charmed by established model, crafted by Michelangelo, and furthermore Aristide Maillol's figures, which he found in books.

After a short excursion to Paris in 1929, Manzù moved to Milan and started making his first models - a significant number of which he would at last pulverize.
