Theerthala, situated in the ancestral town of Prentalapalli, is celebrated for the sanctuaries committed to Lord Sangameswara and Lord Venkateswara. It is trusted that around 250 years prior, Sri Bajjuri Nagaiah, an Ayurvedic specialist, landed in the district looking for some restorative plants and found an icon of Lord Shiva, inadvertently.
With the assistance of Pakayaji, a Brahmin, he fabricated a sanctuary at the site and cherished the found symbol. Koodali Jathara on Mahashivratri is the old custom performed at the sanctuary.
