Suraj Tal

Suraj Tal or Suraj Tal Lake or Surya Taal is one of the most fascinating lakes of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is a calm laid back lake situated at the height of 4960 m above the sea level. Suraj Tal is also known as the Lake of the Sun God or it can be precise by figuring out its literal meaning.
The Suraj Tal lies just below the Bara-Lacha-la pass. The lake is considered to be the third highest lake in India and twenty first highest lake in the world. Suraj Tal is the source of Bhaga River which joins the Chandra River downstream at Tandi to form the Chandrabhaga River in Himachal Pradesh territory, as it enters Jammu and Kashmir, it is renamed as the Chenab River.
It is believed to be the sacred body of water and many believe to take a divine dip here will cleanse from sins.
