Strewn with rocks and boulders, Ramanagara has a rugged terrain that is ideal for trekking. Ramanagara was portrayed as the village called Ramgarh in the Hindi movie Sholay.
A landscape covered with rocks and granite hills, Ramanagara has sparse vegetation. It is home to some highly endangered species of birds such as the Long Billed Vulture and Yellow Throated Bulbul.
Ramanagara is situated on the banks of the River Arkavathi. The old bridge connecting both sides of the city was built by Sir Barry Close and hence the city is also called as Closepet. The stretch of brown land with granite outcrops standing out serves as the perfect setting for trekking and other adventure activities such as rappelling.
