About Konark Sun Temple

Konark Sun Temple is a 13th century CE solar temple at Konark about 35 kilometres northeast from Puri on the coastline of Odisha, India. The temple is attributed to king Narasingha deva I of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty approximately 1250 CE. Dedicated to the Hindu 'god Surya, that remains of the temple complex has the advent of a a hundred-foot excessive chariot with giant wheels and horses, all carved from stone.

Once over 200 ft high, masses of the temple is now in ruins, specifically the huge shikara tower over the sanctuary; at one time this rose a wonderful deal higher than the mandapa that stays. The systems and factors which have survived are famed for their tough paintings, iconography, and topics, along with erotic kama and mithuna scenes. Also known as the Surya Devalaya, it's miles a traditional illustration of the Odisha style of Architecture or Kalinga Architecture. The purpose of the destruction of the Konark temple is uncertain and remains a supply of controversy.
