Khilla Ghanpur Fort is situated close Khilla Ghanpur town in Mahabubnagar locale of Telangana. This is a perfect end of the week escape from Hyderabad to spend entire day. The Ghanpur Fort is a slope fortification based on a rough slope by King Gona Ganapa Reddy in mid thirteenth century. He managed this region as a feudatory to Kakatiya rulers. Gona Ganapa Reddy is child of Gona Budda Reddy who was acclaimed as the writer of Ranganatha Ramayana, a spearheading Telugu Literature.
The name of Ghanapuram Killa appeared from the name of Kakatiya Ruler Sri Ganapathi Deva. The stronghold is spread on rough and uneven territory of 4 Sq kilometers and there are fortification structures spread over the best most piece of the slope. The fortification was well worked with guns on the upper side of the stronghold.
