Kamru Fort is a famous historic tourist attraction about 2 kms from the beautiful Sangla Valley. It is built at a height of 2600 meters above the mean sea level. It has a beautiful scenic setting. The fort provides a stunning view of the magnificent himalayas.
The accessibility of the fort is through a series of gates that one has to cross. There is a statue of Lord Buddha at the main gate to imply that Lord Buddha blesses the visitors. The fort has a 15th century shrine of Lord Badrinath within. One can witness the grandeur of the Himanalayan landscape from the wooden balconies of the fort.
There is an idol of Goddess Kamakhya on the third floor which is said to have been brought from Assam. Once in three years, a colourful fair is organized here and dedicated to the diety which is taken to Gangotri as well.
