Jwalamukhi Temple, otherwise called Jwalaji, is one of the Shakti Peethas. This hallowed place is situated at a separation of 30 km south of Kangra valley and is committed to Goddess Jwalamukhi. Goddess Jwalamukhi is otherwise called Goddess with flaring mouth. This sanctuary includes a copper pipe through which flammable gas turns out. There are nine such blazes in the sanctum which are named after Goddesses Mahakali, Unpurna, Chandi, Hinglaj, Bindhya Basni, Maha Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ambika and Anji Devi. The flares consuming ceaselessly can be seen ejecting from shake side, with no fuel. As indicated by the legend it is trusted that Sati's tongue fell at Jwalaji where the goddess shows as little flares. These flares consume gaps introduce in the deep rooted shake, situated in this sanctuary.
