Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary is a famous bird sanctuary in the Solapur distcrict of Maharashtra. Established in 1979, it is also known as the Jawaharlal Nehru Bustard Sanctuary. It is especially famous for housing the rare Great Indian Bustard.
Maharashtra is one of the six states in India where Great Indian Bustards are still seen. These birds are mostly seen in grassland areas. The sanctuary is also home to a variety of other exotic birds such as Eurasian collared dove, Indian bushlark, Red-necked falcon, Indian silverbill, etc. The sanctuary is a paradise for bird lovers.
