Dominican Monastery

Dominican Monastery is known as the ancient seat of religious learning in the city of Daman. This monastery was also famous for theological studies by Catholics from across the globe. It is one of the important attractions in the city, which hosts a religious mass on every third Sunday in December, for honouring Saint Dominic.

Dominican Monastery in Daman has previously served as the headquarters of theological studies. It was a world renowned seminary for the hieratic novitiates. Many catholic scholars from far and wide places were attracted to it. Its downfall and decline however remains a mystery that seems to be unsolvable. Travellers can see the ruins of the Dominican Monastery and beautifully decorated altar with floral motifs carved on stone. It is a well-known religious site in Daman, which attracts tourists, especially Catholic worshippers, every year.
