About Jardin botanique de la Villa

The Jardin botanique de la Villa Thuret 3.5 hectares is a prestigious professional flowerbed situated on the grounds of the Villa Thuret, 90, chemin Raymond, Antibes Juan-les-Pins, Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France. It is open weekdays without charge. The greenery enclosure was made in 1857 by Gustave Thuret 1817-1875, a botanist best known for investigations of generation in green growth, who utilized it to lead plant acclimatization preliminaries with companion and lichen master Jean-Baptiste Edouard Bornet 1828-1911. In 1868, writer George Sand depicted it in her Traveler's Letters as the loveliest patio nursery she had ever observed.

It was granted to the country in 1878, and in 1927 joined to the Institute of Agronomic Research, which in 1946 turned into the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique INRA. The greenery enclosure contains fine accumulations of cycads, conifers with an uncommon gathering of cypress, palms 30 species including superb examples of Jubaea, vegetables different types of Australian acacias, Mediterranean oaks, Australian Myrtaceae Callistemon, Calothamnus, Eucalyptus, Melaleuca, a substantial accumulation of Pittosporum spp., and Proteaceae including Banksia, Grevillea, Hakea, and Leucadendron. Critical examples incorporate a wonderful Jubaea spectabilis, just as exceptionally fine examples of Arbutus xalapensis, Agathis robusta, Cupressus macrocarpa, Eucalyptus benthamii, Melaleuca linariifolia, and Taxodium mucronatum.
