About Dammarie-les-Lys
Dammarie-les-Lys is a collective in the south-eastern rural areas of Paris, France. It is situated in the Seine-et-Marne office in the Ile-de-France area 43.3 km from the focal point of Paris. Amid the French Revolution, Dammarie-les-Lys was incidentally renamed Dammarie-les-Fontaines because of the regal imagery of the fleurs de lis and the religious implication of the name. Dammarie-les-Lys existed heretofore yet is referenced in the 10th century. The town comprised of a few villages: Dammarie-les-Lys, and Farcy Vosves-les-Lys.
The city contains the remains of the Royal Abbey of Lys, Cistercian monastery for ladies, established in 1251 by Blanche of Castile and Saint Louis. Its development started in 1244 and finished around 1253 on a previous vineyard package. In 1252, Blanche of Castile made his last donations. The nunnery was sacked by the progressives to 1793. Sold in 1797, it kept on rotting in spite of the different rebuilding efforts attempted. Dammarie-les-Lys unquestionably enter the 20th century with the development of the business on its territory.
