The Duruthu Perahera festival DPF is a supportive event to rejoice in Sri Lankas cultural richness continuously for three days. The sacred Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya temple situated in the Western Province also celebrates DPF each January during the Duruthu Poya organizing a historic, traditional and cultural pageant, the Ketani Perahera commemorating the 3rd visit of Lord Buddha. The Duruthu Perahera festival is one of the most awaited and popular festival in Sri-Lanka The The Duruthu Perahera starts at 8.00 pm in the night and would highlight the releasing of sacred casket, elephants then carry the casket and a divine insignia. However, the Ketani Perahera brings to light all committed devotees dressed in white.
