Byparken

Byparken is a public park in primary Roskilde, Denmark. It was founded in 1915 and became in part financed thru a donation of the textile producer O. H. Schmeltz. The park adjoins Provstevænget, a small protected field next to Roskilde Cathedral. Together, the two regions form a large green area among the cathedral and Roskilde Fjord. In the Middle Ages, Provstevænget become the web site of St John's Church and the surrounding neighbourhood, which formed St John Parish, considered one of medieval Roskilde's 13 parishes, became domestic to the various canons associated with the cathedral.
