Saint Sophia Cathedral

The Cathedral of the Holy Wisdom of God or Saint Sophia Cathedral in Harbin is a previous Russian Orthodox church situated in the focal region of Daoli, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, China. St. Sophia Orthodox Cathedral was worked in 1907 after the fulfillment of the Trans-Siberian Railway in 1903, which associated Vladivostok to upper east China. The Russian No.4 Army Division touched base in this area soon after Russia's misfortune to the Japanese in the Russo-Japanese War 1904– 1905.

St. Sophia Church was fabricated and finished of timber in March, 1907 as a major aspect of an arrangement to reconsolidate the certainty of the armed force by building a forcing otherworldly image. In 1921, Harbin had a populace of 300,000, including 100,000 Russians. The congregation was extended and revamped from September 23, 1923, when a service was held to commend the laying of the foundation, to its fulfillment on November 25, 1932, following nine years. The present-day St. Sophia Church was hailed as a great masterpiece and the biggest Orthodox church in the Far East.

As per Harbin city religious and Daoli locale chronicles, Fr. Fotiy Huo Desheng was the ninth minister of St. Sophia Church of Harbin. The congregation is situated at the intersection of Toulong Street Toulong jie and Zhaolin Street Zhaolin jie. It remains at 53.3 meters 175 ft tall, possesses a zone of 721 square meters 0.18 sections of land, and is the ideal case of Neo-Byzantine engineering. The fundamental structure is spread out like a cross with the principle corridor finished with an enormous green-tipped arch. Under the splendid sun, the congregation and the square region it remains on look very like Red Square in Moscow.
