About Wellers Bay
Amid World War 2 the shoreline was a piece of the Consecon Air Weapons Range and was utilized as a discharging range, for pilot-learners.
In 1978 the Weller's Bay National Wildlife Area was made. Consequently, local people used to utilizing the zone for angling, snowmobiling, and other recreational uses began conflicting with authorities accused of a duty to secure untamed life. In the 1990s authorities began issuing fines.
A key 83 hectares of the 8 kilometers inlet are put aside as a National Wildlife Area, including Bald Island, Bald Head Island, Fox Island, and the sandspit that secures the narrows, in light of the fact that the sandspit that ensured the sound was one of the keep going undeveloped spits on the immense lakes, and it was a vital flying creature territory.
