About Wallaceburg
Wallaceburg is an unincorporated community in the municipality of Chatham-Kent in Southern Ontario, Canada. Initially a little settlement, it was perceived for its noteworthy commitment to the wood and pontoon building businesses and key area along the banks of the beautiful Sydenham River. In later years, 1895-1999, the town was known for its glass making industry. Therefore, Wallaceburg is privately known as the "glass town of Canada."
Wallaceburg is the home of WAMBO a yearly old fashioned auto, pontoon, transport, and fire engine demonstrate that started in 1988. The town was established in the mid nineteenth century and named after Scotland's national saint, Sir William Wallace. It was consolidated as a town in 1875 and after that as a town in 1896. In 1998, it was amalgamated into the new district of Chatham– Kent.
