About Okanagan Lake

Okanagan Lake is a substantial, profound lake in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. The lake is 135 km (84 mi) long, in the vicinity of 4 and 5 km (2.5 and 3.1 mi) wide, and has a surface region of 348 km2. Okanagan Lake is known as a fjord lake as it has been cut out by rehashed glaciations. In spite of the fact that the lake contains various lacustrine porches, it isn't phenomenal for the lake to be 100 m profound just 10 m seaward. Real inflows incorporate Mission, Vernon, Trout, Penticton, Equesis, Kelowna, Peachland and Powers Creeks.

The lake is depleted by the Okanagan River, which leaves the lake's south end by means of a waterway through the city of Penticton to Skaha Lake, whence the stream proceeds with southwards into whatever remains of the South Okanagan and through Okanogan County, Washington to its conjunction with the Columbia. The lake's most extreme profundity is 232 meters (761 ft) close Grant Island (Nahun Weenox).

There is one other island known as Rattlesnake Island, considerably more distant south by Squally Point. A few regions of the lake have up to 750 meters (2,460 ft) of frigid and post-cold residue fill which were saved amid the Pleistocene Epoch. Outstanding highlights of the Okanagan Valley incorporate patios which were framed because of the occasional bringing down of the lake's antecedent, frigid Lake Penticton. These patios are presently utilized widely for agribusiness, for example, organic product development.
