About Lake Nipissing

Lake Nipissing is a lake in the Canadian territory of Ontario. It has a surface zone of 873.3 km2, a mean rise of 196 m above ocean level, and is situated between the Ottawa River and Georgian Bay. Barring the Great Lakes, Lake Nipissing is the third-biggest lake in Ontario. It is moderately shallow for a substantial lake, with a normal profundity of just 4.5 m. The shallowness of the lake makes for some sandbars along the lake's sporadic shoreline. The lake achieves a greatest profundity of 64 m close to the mouth of the French River, off the shore of Blueberry Island. The lake has numerous islands the majority of which are ensured under the Protection of Significant Wetlands plot, controlled by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
