Kirchdorf an der Krems is a municipality in the Upper Austrian Traunviertel and district capital of the district Kirchdorf an der Krems with 4503 inhabitants as of 1 January 2019. In Kirchdorf is the district court of the same jurisdiction Kirchdorf an der Krems. In the year 903 the Kirchdorf-Micheldorfer Becken highest Kremstal with the noble center Georgenberg was mentioned for the first time: ... in valle que dicitur oliupespurc ... thus: "in the valley, which is called Oliupespurc Olsburg". At the same time, the church on Georgenberg also had the function of an old parish "Ulsburg", which extended to Spital am Pyhrn .
In the second half of the eleventh century, the Bishopric of Bamberg Kirchdorf, Hausmanning, Seebach and parts of Kremsdorf and was thus attached to the important Pyhrnlinie. This was followed by a period of economic prosperity, manifested in the Gothicization of the church 1491, the construction of a town hall and a school. Finally, in 1584, Emperor Rudolf II approved the weekly market "to raise a weekly market on Monday and now to keep it eternally". However, this document merely sanctioned what had been customary since earlier times, namely three fairs and the weekly market.
