About Lake Burley Griffin

Wonderful Lake Burley Griffin is the centerpiece of Canberra. Named for the city's planner, this simulated lake was incorporated into his unique arrangement of 1912, yet didn't work out as intended until 1958.

Vacationers and local people alike come here to bicycle and walk around the waterfront ways, excursion along its stop bordered shores, and fish, sail, or oar the sparkling waters.

Six islands lie at its middle, the biggest of which is Aspen Island, home to the National Carillon, a blessing from the British government with 55 bronze ringers, sprinkled around the lake, guests will discover some of Canberra's best things to see and do, including the National Gallery, National Library, Questacon, and National Museum. Remaining on the shores of the focal bowl, guests can see the Captain Cook Memorial Jet, a 147 m high wellspring initiated in 1970 on the 200th commemoration of Cook's revelation of Australia.
