1. Govt. Allocates Increased Rail Budget for Development of North Eastern Region
For improving the condition and providing luxurious facilities to passengers in railways, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India, Dr Jitendra Singh has increased the rail budget by 151% in last two years. The budget allocated for railway for 2016-17 budgets is Rs. 5,340 crore that is much higher than what was allocated in last five years. Considering the fast track movement of rails in Northeast region, minister said that the budget is allotted considering the long time demand and for providing the broad gauge to the railway. The projects to be covered this year are borad gauge track to Agartala along with Kathakat-Bhairabi project in Mizoram.
All these projects and heavy budget for railways will promote tourism in the country and will enhance the experience level of customers. In the official announcement, minister said that connecting Northeast India with major part of the country is our priority and an emphasis to connect entire India. Further, emphasis is made to provide waterways in Brahmaputra that connects with Bay of Bengal. Thus, overall best rail, road and water transportation will boost the tourism and transportation in the country.
