Situated on Oakland's northern periphery, this distant neighborhood feels less far-flung than down home. Near a portion of the East Bay's best climbing and mountain biking, it's a perfect place to get a modest nibble following a monotonous day on the trails. Neighborhood business people have gotten the notice, as unassuming Temescal is home to many moderate eateries from each side of the world.

Attempt Casserole House, a darling Korean establishment known for expansive, low-valued bits; Doña Tomás, an easygoing sit-down Mexican eatery with profound roots in the region; or Juhu Beach Club, an Indian road nourishment joint where new made sliders extend your dollar.
