Smith McDowell House

The Smith-McDowell House is a history museum situated in Asheville, North Carolina. It is the city's first manor and most seasoned surviving house, and the most established block structure in Buncombe County. The house was developed in the 1840s for James McConnell Smith. His girl Sarah Smith-McDowell and her better half, William Wallace McDowell purchased the house after her folks died. It is a mix of structural styles dating from its unique 1840 development and increments finished in the late nineteenth and mid twentieth hundreds of years. The floor design is run of the mill of Adam style, otherwise called Federal style in America.

It is a double-pile plan, Flemish bond, five-straight chateau that highlights a twofold level patio semi-connected underneath an augmentation of its peak rooftop. Every three-cove end divider has a couple of inside fireplaces. The block dividers are 12 to 20 inches thick. The first Federal character that overwhelmed the house's outside stays in the huge fanlights over the front entryways and in the delicacy of the entryway patio that is upheld by twelve slim fluted sections. The outside of the working at one time shown penciling, and remainders stay in a few spots. Albeit a great part of the residence's unique Greek Revival inside woodwork was supplanted amid a Neoclassical style renovating in 1913, the second floor's shelves, window edges, and door jambs are unique, dating from the 1840s.
