About Echo Methodist Church

Echo Methodist Church is a historic church building in Echo, Oregon, Oregon, United States. Originally built 1886 a straightforward New England vernacular style, it was extended and changed into the Gothic Revival style in 1910. It is the best case of Gothic Revival development in the Echo zone. As Echo's solitary Protestant church, fabricated two years after the railroad touched base around the local area, its history likewise reflects changes in transportation and agribusiness in the territory.
Before the church was developed, administrations and recoveries were held in a forest of trees called Spike's Grove, found south of town in a Cottonwood Grove along the Umatilla River possessed at the time by Elvira Teel and later her little girl and child in-law Elmer and Pamela Spike. The congregation's name has changed after some time. It was Echo Methodist Episcopal Church when it was established in 1886, moved toward becoming Echo Community Methodist Church in 1946, and was Echo Methodist Church by 1996. Starting at 2013, the congregation was named Echo Community Church. The congregation was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
