About Capitol Lake Park

Legislative Lake is a 3 kilometer long, 260-section of land manufactured lake at the mouth of Deschutes River in Tumwater/Olympia, Washington. The Olympia Brewery sits on Capitol Lake in Tumwater, only downstream from where the Tumwater Falls meet the lake. Before American settlement, the tidal bowl at the southern tip of Budd Inlet was a beneficial shellfish gathering territory for local people groups.

After settlement in the mid-nineteenth century, the bowl got a significant part of the wastewater and other emanating surge from "uptown" Olympia. In the 1890s the Northern Pacific Railroad found a station and exchanging yard on the eastern shore of the bowl.
