About West Pier

The West Pier is a wharf in Brighton, England. It was composed by Eugenius Birch, opening in 1866 and shutting in 1975.

The wharf was the first to be Grade I recorded in Britain, however, has turned out to be progressively neglected since conclusion.

The wharf was developed amid a blast of delight dock working in the 1860s and was intended to draw in tourism in Brighton.

It was the town's second dock, joining the Royal Suspension Chain Pier in 1823.

It was stretched out in 1893, and a show corridor was included 1916.

The dock achieved its pinnacle participation amid this time, with 2 million guests in the vicinity of 1918 and 1919.

Its prevalence started to decay after World War II, and shows were supplanted by a funfair and lunch nook. A nearby organization took possession in 1965, yet couldn't meet the expanded upkeep cost, and at last petitioned for liquidation. They couldn't locate a reasonable purchaser, so the wharf shut in 1975 and in this way fell into dilapidation.
