Sandwich Bay

Sandwich Bay is a long clearing bay of the ocean amongst Ramsgate and Deal, on the east shoreline of Kent, England. The seaside region comprises of sand pads with their related salt bogs and waterfront sand ridges. The Sandwich Flats extend for around five miles along the drift. The beach front natural surroundings are of high environmental significance. The vast majority of the straight bears national and global nature protection assignments.

These incorporate the Sandwich Bay to Hacklinge Marshes Site of Special Scientific Interest, the Sandwich Bay Special Area of Conservation the Thanet Coast and Sandwich Bay Special Protection Area for feathered creatures, and the Thanet Coast and Sandwich Bay Ramsar Site. The Southern Emerald damselfly was found here in 2003, just the second site in Great Britain at which this vagrant species had happened.
