About Royal Forest of Dean

The Forest of Dean is an authentic, geological, and social area in the western piece of the region of Gloucestershire, England. The Forest of Dean was initially assigned by the Saxons for chasing, they were the primary individuals to understand its potential. Thereafter it became the hunting reserve of Kings for many hundreds of years to follow. Many of the Dean’s ancient rights and privileges come from its unique heritage as a Royal Hunting Forest.

The Norman rulers wanted to chase deer and wild pig and they presented Forest Law and authorities called Verderers who were accused of taking care of the creatures and the forested areas they lived in.

It shapes a generally triangular level limited by the River Wye toward the west and north-west, Herefordshire toward the north, the River Severn toward the south, and the City of Gloucester toward the east.
