About Peterlee
Peterlee is a small town in County Durham, England. It was established in 1948, and worked under the sponsorship of the New Towns Act 1946. It has monetary and network ties with Sunderland, Hartlepool and Durham. The case for Peterlee was advanced in Farewell Squalor by Easington Rural District Council Surveyor C.W. Clarke, who additionally suggested that the town was named after the observed Durham excavators' pioneer Peter Lee.
Peterlee is special among the new towns which appeared after the Second World War in that it was the just a single asked for by the general population through their MP.
