Samsun Archaeology & Ethnography Museum

The most striking thing in this exhibition hall is the gigantic Romano-Byzantine mosaic found at close-by Kara Samsun Amisos.

It delineates Thetis and Achilles from the Trojan War and the four seasons nearby ocean creatures and sprites.

Different features incorporate exquisite gold gems dating from the first century BC – the season of the incredible Pontic King Mithridates VI.

One of Samsun's most basic show lobbies, the Samsun Archeology and Ethnography Museum most prominently incorporates a mosaic from the Roman time, and furthermore pearls, coins, and works from the Calcolithic, First Bronze Age, and Hittite periods.
