Arykanda

A day outing to the Hellenistic demolish of Arykanda is well justified, despite all the trouble. The site terraces dramatically down a slope of the Akda? Mountain, with many well-preserved monuments to explore.

The stadium on the most noteworthy patio is relatively little, dating from the Greek period yet reestablished by the Romans.

Underneath the stadium is a close intact Greek theater with 20 lines of seating and a few engravings still noticeable on the best column.

The Odeon, on the least patio, is 75 meters in length with a mosaic floor. Extending in front is the galleried marketplace, while toward the west lies the Bouleuterion.

The Baths are arranged toward the south and are among the best-protected structures, with the frigidarium caldarium still in fine condition. A semi-round survey room here gives an awesome view over the Arykandos Valley.
