About Lulea Cathedral

Lulea Cathedral in Lulea, Sweden, serves the Diocese of Lulea and the neighborhood Church of Sweden parish, Lulea Cathedral Parish. There were a total of church buildings constructed at the website online of the cutting-edge cathedral. In 1667 the authentic wood church was demolished and a stone church become built as a substitute. However, on June 11, 1887, the church burned to the floor. Two years later, the church council determined to rebuild the church and on June eleven, 1889, the cornerstone become laid. The church was built at the designs of Adolf Emil Melander. It turned into consecrated in 1893.

The church became in the beginning named Oscar Fredrik Church, after the King Oscar II. It became a cathedral when the Diocese of Lulea turned into created in 1904.
