The accumulations are housed in two structures confining the passage to St George's Park.
The Arts Hall worked in 1927 and the second building which was planned to be finished in 1947 to celebrate the regal visit.
The building was opened together with the new access to St. Georges stop.
The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum's accumulations comprise of South African craftsmanship especially that of the Eastern Cape, British workmanship, universal printmaking and Oriental workmanship counting Indian miniatures and Chinese materials.
These are supplemented by a dynamic program of brief shows.
