About Arderne Gardens

This garden is located in Claremont, Cape Town, situated in the Western Cape of South Africa.

It was built up by Ralph Henry Arderne in 1845, a timber vendor initially from Cheshire, England.

In 1979, the recreation center was named a South African Provincial Heritage Site.

It is currently a prevalent setting for wedding photographs.The huge Moreton Bay fig is a Champion Tree and one of the biggest trees in South Africa.

The 4.5-hectare stop contains more than 300 trees, six of which have been recognized as Champion Trees by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

The Moreton Bay fig close to the recreation center passage is one of the biggest trees in the countryand is nicknamed the "Wedding Tree" by local people.
