About Horia
Horia is a commune in Tulcea County, Romania. It consists of three villages: Closca formerly known as Dautcea and, after 1912, incoronarea, Floresti previously called Islam Geaferca and Horia previously known as Ortachioi, and Regina Maria from 1924 to 1947. The village Horia became first mentioned at the maps of the 18th century, as a small community with some villages. In the 19th century it had the Turkish call Ortachioi, and at the beginning of the 20 th century, the village obtained the call "Regina Maria" after Queen Marie of Romania.
From 1947 to the prevailing days, the village bears the call Horia. Marie of Romania, also known as Marie of Edinburgh, was the last Queen of Romania as the wife of King Ferdinand I. Born into the British royal family, she become titled Princess Marie of Edinburgh at beginning. Horia turned into grounded with the aid of a Muslim community, to which brought in time Romanians and Bulgarians. Nowadays it accommodates typically Romanian population.
