About Bethlen Castle

Magna Curia or The Bethlen Castle is a palace located in Deva, Romania. In 1582, the Hungarian captain Ferenc Geszty, in price of the Deva Castle's garrison, erected a residence on the foot of the castle hill. That house became the residence of Sigismund Bathory, widespread Giorgio Basta, Stephen Bocskay, Gabriel Bathory and Gabriel Bethlen. In 1621 Gabriel Bethlen started the unconventional transformation of the preliminary residence, with the end result being the Magna Curia palace.

The Bethlen Castle changed into a Renaissance style constructing, but the next modifications till the primary 1/2 of the 18th century that gave it the final shape that can be visible these days, delivered Baroque style structure. Since 1882, the County Museum, the Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilisation, has been housed in the palace. Magna Curia was completely renovated in 2007, with improvements that protected an accelerated solarium and a classic 8-bit arcade.
