About Pukekura Park

Pukekura Park is a Garden of National Significance, covering 52ha near the coronary heart of New Plymouth, Taranaki in New Zealand. The park contains a numerous variety of native and amazing vegetation. Various smooth taking walks trails move the park and meander along the lake facets, taking within the capabilities of the park. Among those are the picturesque Poet's Bridge,2 which was opened on eleven March 1884. There is likewise a person-made cascading waterfall and a fountain inside the aptly named Fountain Lake. Row boats may be employed for rowing on the primary lake. Pukekura Park is also a famous activities venue, with a cricket oval wherein Central Districts Stags cricket club play some home matches and the Bowl of Brooklands amphitheatre.

The annual WOMAD competition is held at Pukekura Park. Pukekura Park is also home to the famous Tea House at the Lake, which has been located on the primary lake since the Nineteen Thirties. Pukekura Park is the venue for the once a year Festival of Lights, which runs totally free every 12 months from mid-December to early February. It has daylight and night time time programmes of events for humans of all ages, and the festival itself transforms the park into an illuminated wonderland each nighttime. In 2007, Pukekura become winner of the 'Mayfair' spot in a nationwide competition for locations on Hasbro's New Zealand version of monopoly.
