About Trompenburgh

De Trompenburgh is a 17th-century manor house in 's-Graveland, North Holland, Netherlands, designed through Daniel Stalpaert and built for Admiral Cornelis Tromp, one of the naval heroes of the Dutch Republic. The residence is sort of absolutely surrounded with the aid of water and become built to resemble a ship, regardless of decks and railings. Before the current house became constructed every other buitenplaats have been built by Andries Bicker in 1636. The original residence dates again to 1654. Through inheritance the residence got here into the possession of the widow of Van Hellemont Raephorst who remarried on January 25, 1667 with Admiral Cornelis Tromp.

The couple redecorated the estate drastically, but the residence and their enhancements have been treasure looted and burned via the French in the course of the rampjaar 1672. It changed into rebuilt in 1675-1684 by using Maarten Tromp's son, Admiral Cornelis Tromp, who referred to as it Syllisburg, after one among his titles. Around 1720 Jacob Roeters came into ownership of the property and he renamed it Trompenburg and had a gilded plaque with an ode by Gerard Brandt in memory of Tromp established over the entrance in 1725. The constructing was currently restored.
