Swalmen

Swalmen is an area and previous municipality in Dutch Limburg, which due to the fact January 1, 2007 belongs to the municipality of Roermond. Swalmen is located among Roermond and Venlo , is bordered on the west by using the Maas and inside the east by using the German border. The church villages of Asselt and Boukoul had been also part of the municipality of Swalmen until 2007. With these other church villages, this very water-rich, wooded and herbal-rich municipality owned some industrySound clip in the village center mainly a rural person. In prehistoric times burial mounds had been erected at Swalmen, such as the burial mounds on

Kroppestraat , the burial mounds on Bosberg and with Grietjens Gericht . In the outskirts of Swalmen are visible remains of the Roman avenue from Heerlen to Xanten , placed at the southeastern fringe of the former municipality of Swalmen, among the estates of Blankwater and Zuiderwijck Spick in the church village of Boukoul . At border post 425 there is a past due Neolithic burial mound at the Roman avenue.
