Around 2km south of the downtown area, this revamped historical center is the best place to go in KK for a prologue to Sabah's ethnicities and conditions, with clear signage and clarifications. Expect ancestral and chronicled ancient rarities including earthenware production and a centerpiece whale skeleton, and copy limestone surrender.
The Heritage Village has conventional ancestral abodes, including Kadazan bamboo houses and a Chinese farmhouse, all pleasantly set on a lily-cushion lake. The bordering Science and Education Center has a useful presentation on the oil business, from penetrating to refining and handling. The Sabah Art Gallery highlights general shows and presentations by nearby specialists.
