About Place de la Constitution

It is a City square featuring a memorial obelisk dedicated to World War II soldiers, freedom & resistance situated in the Luxembourg city, Luxembourg.

There is the monument which is topped by a gilded bronze statue holding a laurel wreath - the “Gëlle Fra” - who looks like she was holding it over the Luxembourgish nation and the statue was created by Claus Cito and is one of Luxembourg’s national symbols.

The Constitution Square was set up on the old Beck bastion 1644, 1685. The "Gëlle Fra", a landmark which is situated on this square, was set up in 1923 to remember the Luxembourgers who died in the First World War, today it symbolizes flexibility and protection for the Luxembourg individuals.
