About Tofuku-ji temple

Tofukuji is an extensive Zen sanctuary in southeastern Kyoto that is especially well known for its tremendous pre-winter hues. The sanctuary was established in 1236 at the command of the capable Fujiwara family. Its name is a blend of the names of two incredible sanctuaries in Nara that were additionally connected with the Fujiwara, Todaiji Temple and Kofukuji Temple.
